आण āṇ

A Hindī and Avadhi word for an oath or sworn word, and for a proclamation. The Hindī Śabdasāgara glosses it by duhāī and derives it from āṇi, a limit or boundary. The retroflex spelling is far rarer in print than the ordinary dental one.
