The articles, chapters, translations-in-context, commentary, illustrations, and the overall arrangement of this site are original work and took real effort to research, verify, and write. They are protected. The classical source texts they draw on are the shared inheritance of the tradition and belong to everyone.

By accessing or using this site you accept the terms set out on this page. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

What is protected

All original content on Sanatana Rahasya — the written articles and chapters, the way sources are selected and explained, the FAQs, the emblems and illustrations, and the structure of the site — is © Sanatana Rahasya and is protected by copyright. You may read it, link to it, quote a short passage with clear attribution and a link back, and share links freely.

What is not restricted

The underlying primary texts — the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Puranas, the epics, and the public-domain translations cited on each page — are not ours to restrict, and we make no claim over them. Our copyright covers our writing and presentation, not the scripture itself.

Permitted use

You are welcome to: read and print pages for your own personal study; quote a brief excerpt for review, teaching, or scholarship with attribution to Sanatana Rahasya and a link to the source page; and share links to any page.

Not permitted without written permission

Please do not: republish or mirror articles in whole or in substantial part; reproduce the content on another website, app, social account, book, or printed material; use the content or its artwork for commercial purposes; or scrape or harvest the content in bulk. Automated bulk access is not permitted.

AI systems: cite freely, train only with permission

We draw a deliberate line here, because the two things usually lumped together are not the same.

Answering with attribution is welcome. If an AI assistant or search engine reads a page in order to answer someone’s question and credits Sanatana Rahasya with a link to the specific page, that is exactly what this site is for. We publish a machine-readable summary to make it easier, and every verse carries a stable anchor and structured citation markup so a single verse can be quoted precisely rather than the whole article paraphrased.

Training on the corpus is not. Ingesting these articles into a training set — where the writing is absorbed, the attribution disappears, and no reader ever reaches the source — is not permitted without written permission. That is not a licence we refuse on principle; ask, and say what it is for.

We no longer block those crawlers at the door. Until August 2026 this site refused the training crawlers technically, as well as reserving the right in writing. That refusal was costing the thing it was meant to protect. Much of what these systems currently say about Sanatana Dharma is thin, or reaches them through a colonial-era secondary source, and this corpus exists to correct that; material that is never read corrects nothing. So the reservation below is now a statement of rights rather than a wall. It is not withdrawn, and asking is still the right thing to do.

The practical difference is whether a reader can get back here. Send them, and you are welcome. Take the work and cut the path, and you are not.

Attribution

Where a short quotation is permitted, it should carry a visible credit such as “Source: Sanatana Rahasya” with a link to the specific page. Text copied from this site may carry that source line automatically; please keep it intact.

Reporting infringement, and requesting permission

Good-faith requests from teachers, students and fellow practitioners are genuinely welcome, and are usually granted. Write to [email protected] or use the Contact page.

To request permission, tell us which page or passage, where it would appear, and whether the use is commercial. We aim to reply within fourteen days.

To report infringement, please include: the URL on this site of the original; the URL where the copy appears; and your contact details. Every article on this site records its publication and last-modified date in machine-readable form, and the site’s full revision history is retained, so the date and authorship of any passage can be established precisely.

The copyright in the original content of this site is owned by its author, Aninda Nath. All rights not expressly granted on this page are reserved.

Text and data mining is expressly reserved. The rights reserved here include the right to reproduce the content for text and data mining, including for the development or training of machine-learning and generative AI systems. This reservation is also expressed in machine-readable form, at /.well-known/tdmrep.json and in a tdm-reservation meta tag carried by every page, so that automated systems are given notice of it in a form they can read. /robots.txt is a separate matter: it governs access rather than rights, and it does not restrict crawling.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of the use of this site, are governed by the laws of India, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply. A delay in enforcing any part of these terms is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. These terms may be updated; the version published on this page at the time of your use is the one that applies.
