हिरण्यगर्भ hiraṇyagarbha'The golden womb' or golden embryo (Rigveda 10.121) from which the cosmos is born; a Vedic creator image later identified with Brahmā.

In Ṛgveda 10.121 a golden germ, Hiraṇyagarbha , "the golden womb", floats on the primal waters and becomes the one lord of all that breathes.
