पञ्चायतन पूजा pañcāyatana pūjāThe Smarta rite of worshipping five deities together as equal forms of one Brahman: Ganesha, Devi, Shiva, Vishnu and Surya, arranged in a quincunx, with one placed at the centre as the worshipper's chosen form. Traditionally attributed to Adi Shankara.
