The coded 'extraction' of a mantra from the Tantric texts, deliberately scrambled so it cannot be read off the page by the uninitiated.

Where this term appears

  • The Guru and the Living Mantra Treatise

    It encodes it, in a procedure called mantroddhara , the "extraction" or "drawing out" of the mantra.

  • The Kashmir Foundation Treatise

    Volume 3’s Chapter 3 named him in the context of the Vamakeshvara Tantra — Jayaratha also wrote on that text, interpreting its mantroddhara in favour of the Kadi lineage.

  • The Manuals Treatise

    …a wrote a commentary on the Nityashodashikarnava that interpreted the mantroddhara - the formal derivation of the Panchadashi from its component elemental syllables - in favour of the Kadi lineage.
