utkranti
उत्क्रान्ति utkrāntiYogic self-ejection - the deliberate departure of the soul from the body at a time of the adept's own choosing, taught in the Shaiva tantras as the yogin's way of dying. The Svayambhuvasutrasamgraha permits it only on dispassion or on the exhausting of enjoyment, and forbids it to one acting out of desire for reward or in the face of suffering. An adept who performs it is held to have enacted union with Shiva at the moment of death, and so receives only a simple cremation.
